Alberni Valley Regional Airport
Recreational flying is represented at the AVRA by the Alberni Valley Flying Club, the Vancouver Island Soaring Centre and the Alberni Valley Soaring Association. Sailplanes on scenic and instructional flights are frequently seen overhead and soaring along the Beaufort Range.
Anahim Lake Airport (YAA)
The Anahim Lake region is decorated with remote lakes, grasslands, forests, farms and ranches. The airport is a year-round airport with a 3,936 ft x 75 ft asphalt runway serving the West Chilcotin area. Many charter and private planes use the airport and bring tourists to the tourism and recreation opportunities in the area. It is a gateway to wilderness nature parks, outfitter camps, horseback riding guest ranches, fishing lodges, remote lakes, rivers, mountains and more.
In 2014, the new terminal building officially opened to serve passengers and scheduled flight service, this acts as the airport office and thus improves service levels for visitors, tourism operators, medical personnel, RCMP and other users.
Bella Bella (Campbell Island) Airport (ZEL)
Bella Bella is a small First Nations community on British Columbia's remote Central Coast located in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. Accessible only by air and sea, getting here is often an adventure in itself.
Our small airport is serviced by Pacific Coastal Airlines, offering daily flights from Vancouver's south terminal to Port Hardy, on the northern end of Vancouver Island, and onward (weather permitting) to Bella Bella. The flight from Vancouver, with a brief stopover in Port Hardy, takes a little over two hours and can be very scenic.
